The Chamber's jobs claim

Memphis Chamber of Commerce, public messaging

Roughly 500 jobs and tens of millions of dollars in projected tax revenue for the region. This is the case made for the facility, held in the same room as the case made against it by the two voices in the other doors — not as a rebuttal to them, but as a third real claim that has to be weighed alongside the turbine and water numbers, not instead of them.

500 jobs and a contested permit and a strained aquifer can all be true at once. When a community has to weigh real jobs against real environmental cost, who should get to decide where that line falls — and on what timeline?
